I'm looking for trolling rod advice. I'll be using them in mid south and plain states and I would like to cross over into strippers on the same gear. I like the okuma's, $54 reel only, but cabela's has some good combo's paired with daiwa's in the $79 bracket. The local walmart is dumping some heavy shakespear rods for $13 and $17. This would be a long line set-up on a 17' boat. I went to the archives and could not find much.

Jim - for walleyes and steelhead I use Browning dipsy rods. Not sure what would work best on the strippers. Maybe someone else has more experience with them.

Good luck, OF

I like the Eagle Claw downrigger rods for trolling. They make different lengths and types to cover just about any situation.

By the way, I don't know how you guys do it. My wife would be very upset if I told her I was going after strippers.LOL

Since my earlier post, I have been thinking about the correct rods to use for the strippers. The only type to use would be a very stiff rod. Good luck!
