Is a countdown minnow primarily used when targeting suspended fish? Does it ever make sense to use one when targeting bottom huggers? Will it hold its depth when retrieved slowly, or does it still want to sink? Thank you for any assistance.

Terry, others may have a different opinion but for me, countdowns drop about a foot per second. Once you start trolling, they seem to stay at a pretty consistent depth.

Countdowns work best casting into deeper water 10 to 15 ft and retrieving them back into shallower water. They seem to hold their depth and come slightly up as your line angle changes. I really like casting these off a moderate drop off and bring them back up the shelf. They don't have a big wobble...but the fish sure like them.
