View Full Version : Electric Down Riggers Wanted
I would like to get some advise on what kind of Down Riggers are the best. I have looked at Cannon Mag 10s and also Scottys and Vectra. I would rather get info from someone that knows or owns them rather than a Sales person. Thanks in advance.

I have Scottys and appreciate the autostop feature. Also, if you lose power for any reason there is a hand crank included to bail you out. One season on them, very pleased so far.

I've had the cannon mag 10's for two seasons now and love 'em. I upgraded from cannon manuals and sure glad i did. electric is only way to go. You might check ebay, I got a good deal on a pair of gently used ones there.
Thanks guys for the info.

Can't say much about electric downriggers, but Big Jon makes same excellent manual downriggers! I'm sure their electrics are up to snuff !!

Scotty's for me. This will be the 5th season on mine. Never a problem. I fish Lake Chelan here in Washington State and it is nothing to be dropping 12 pound balls to 250 feet or better and back up all day long, a real workout for any downrigger. Very dependable.
I run a pair of canon super mini mags (cabela`s specials) on my boat and love them.No complaints here..Awesome riggers.I fish lake mich. salmon allot and they are fabulous for that water..Like the others have said go electric..FISH HARD...Len
