I'm having trouble replying....

I just registered as a user and I can't reply to messages. The "ERROR" page comes up and says the message cannot be more than 65 characters, or something like that. WHY? Can someone help me, please.

Never heard of that problem before...email Scott Golden at scott@walleyecentral.com and he should be able to fix it for you.

It worked. As an FYI - if you post something or answer another post you won't always see your response right away. I believe it is part of the editing package on the Board. You just need to refresh the screen and it appears.

Last night I tried to reply from home and I got the same problem. "Cannot exceed 65 characters in lenght". That is the first time it has ever happened to me. I tried to reply to the "what makes you madder..." in your boat post. I tried several different times and was not able to post that message. What gives?!

I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It happened to me just now - If it happens to you go up, in the reply window, to the "Subject" line and edit some characters out of that line. When you respond to a message the system automatically places an "RE:" in front of the Subject line and is kicking it out of the allowable limits. This is a first to happen to me too and I think something happened to the internal editing feature for that function. I'll bet you were trying to post to the thread on what ticks you off when someone does.......in your boat. That's where I tripped over the problem, too!

You were likely trying to send something with the subject line too long. Maybe have been just on the limit, then your response adds "RE: " and tips it over the edge.

Thanks Ranger! I'm glad I'm not the only one! Yes, I tried to respond to the "madder than...." topic and typed my messages to only get that Error page. If I respond to anyone else's response I did not get the error. Weird.
