I have had some Quantum's in my years of Fishing everyone Broke at least once. I would never buy another Quantum. In spinning reels Stick w/ Shimano and Baitcasters Garcia.

Quantum gear seems to have really improved over the last few years. I have many of their baitcasters and a few spinning reels. I have not had trouble with any of them. They make some of the smoothest cranking spinning reels out there in the mid price range. They do tend to be just
a bit heavier.

I also like Diawa's for their larger spool diameter(longer casts, less line memory) and typically lighter weight.
