The best place to buy jigs is from Hutch see http://www.riverwalleyes.com/tackle/ . I'm partial to his gold, silver and purple glitter colors. They are best jigs around for the Mississippi and the keeper for holding plastics really works. More importantly, Hutch is a pro's pro when it comes to chasing eyes, great service and prices.

If you wish to fish deeper faster rivers more effectively consider the Pill head or banana style jig as an option.

They produce far less drag and if you also use a thinner diameter line such as FireLine you can get away with 3/8 in the fastest of waters. Less weight will help the walleye feed more effectively.

The walleye can "Slurp" up the jig more easily with a lighter jig and with the low stretch FireLine between you and the walleye, you will know it when they do.

In my experience once the water gets much faster then that you might as well go to 3-way rigs or heavy blade baits to make sure your in the zone.

Hot Jigs manufactures a line of jigs specially designed for rivers, the flathead jig. They use an extra large wire hook. All their jigs are hand dipped for better color and chip resistant. Custom painting available. They are also tournament tested on the rivers, like winning the MWC on the Illinois River. They are hands down the best jig for rivers and deep water. They run in size from 1/4oz. - 2oz. Also, they manufacture one for verticle and another for dragging against the current. If you are used to using a 3/4 round or banana jig, you will be able to drop a jig size easy. Check it out at www.hotjigs.com.

If you are looking for jigs to fish the river there is only one place to go. Call Hutch. He has a huge selection and will treat you right. He can also add some ringworms and you will have everything you need to catch river walleyes.
