I have caught some pretty weird things fishing, but this one tops it off!4 years ago while fishing a small lake,i was bottom bouncing in a weedy bay when i snagged something.I had caught driftwood earlier that day & figured it was the same thing.well,i was partially correct. It was driftwood buti noticed something tied around one end. When i took the wood out of the water there was detonating cord tied on one end.I knew what it was because i work at an underground mine.I pulled the cord up and what i found at the end of the cord scared the #$%^! out of me!There were 4 sticks of dynamite wrapped in chicken wire. Not knowing how volatile this was,i dropped everything over the side.I had heard of idiots using this method before but this confirmed it.It angers me!Anyways,i contacted DNR & they contacted the Winnipeg bomb detachment who flew up North the next day.I met with them in town & we went to drag the area where i found it.We dragged for three hours & got nothing. The one bomb expert told me that from my desciption of the wax paper on the dynamite,it was 15 years or older & chemicals would have leached out making it harmless. What they wanted were serial # off it to locate its source.I never did hear anything back.So i guess you never know what your gonna have at the end of your line eh!Just thought you guys might want to know whats on the lake bottoms.

we pulled up a few blasting caps on Lake Vermilion. No dynamite though.

Strangest thing I saw on the lake wasn't pulled up (thankfully) but floating. Last June we were on LOTW casting shorelines for hammer handles (walleyes were sleeping). We pulled up to what looked like a shiny rock sticking out of the water. Only to get closer and notice it was a bloated moose. Freaked me out for a minute.

I had a freaky adventure last year out on Lake Pepin on the Miss River in MN.
We were trolling boards and long lines on Maiden Rock Flat and we passed a boot floating toe up at about 50' away.
I had just started fishing so I marked the location on GPS and when we were done trolling that area we went looking for the boot and found it still floating.
The way it was floating I thought for sure I was going to find a leg attached but when I prodded it with a paddle it was empty but you could hear the breath escaping from me and my 2 sons with me it was kinda an uptight situation because we had been talking about why it would float toe up unless there was a leg in it.
That weirded all of us out.
