Thanks. Are these homemade or commercial? I don't remember seeing them in any fishing catalog I have but will check them out.

I started using the Zip lure heavily this year on the wisconsin and illinois river during open water. It has produced very well for me, even when the water temp was below 36 degrees. Now whenever vertical jigging, one pole has a jig/minnow and the other hand is always fishing with a zip. I have not used it at all on the ice, allthough I have heard good things about it.

Here in Nebraska a great verticle presentation that is widely known is the Fergie Special. It's a jigging spoon that produces some dandy walleyes and about anything else that swims! Also, a hybrid jig, blade bait is the Walleye Flasher, all can be seen at reelbait.com or view dealer locator for availability in your area.

Hi Oilman! He's still witing for his Vib="E"s, Lol. Soon Oilman, keep watching your mailbox. Vib="E" Bladebaits were invented by the late Bill Edworthy of Akron, Ohio. They are now being produced and marketed by Bass-N-Crafts Tackle of Huron Ohio. They come in 6 sizes and 17 colors and are a great bladebait. Their profile is similar to that of the Heddon Sonar but they have a blade that is much thinner and has a very tight vibration, even when worked in very short strokes at slow speeds. They have been a mainstay for Spring Walleye and Smallmouth in the Western Basin of Erie for quite a while among knowledgable locals and are considered "the" bait for both Walleyes and Smallies on Chataqua Lake, NY. I have carried them in my shop for years now and it never ceases to amaze me how many I sell. I cannot keep up with demand. They are being carried in the Gander Mountain store in Canton, Ohio now with plans to supply all the Gander stores from what I am told. They are a killer in our inland lakes here in Ohio, for Walleye and Saugeye, and I am beginning to sell them to many of the local tournament Bass fishermen.

Zip's are good and so are Sonars.

Sonars offer a wider range of vibration and action with the 3 different connection points. The adjustable range of action is a great bonus.

RD,
Try the Silver Buddy. You can check them out by going to his webpage. It is www.silverbuddy.com They come in 1/4oz, 1/2oz, 3/4oz. and even 1oz now I think. He is working on heavier models I know, but don't know if they are on the market yet. Check out is web page. I know for a fact they work on smallies and walleyes. Have used the 1/2oz. & 3/4oz size for Lake Erie & Lake Chautauqua, N.Y. smallies and walleyes for years now. In fact, they would be my confidence bait on these waters. especially in the fall.

I fish a lot in the Western Basin of Lake Erie and I use a lot of blade baits. I custom make most all of mine. Although I have used a few Vibees they all work. I try to stay with orange and black. That seems to be the best for me.

I fish blade baits all the time and have just about everyone on the market and I have found that the Cicada's seem to work the best. They will catch walleyes when the others seem not too. I buy my Cicada's and Reef Runners and so on from Al Paterson at Reel Bait Co. They are great people to do business with and will get your order to you right away. Check there web-site out at www.reelbait.com. You won't be disappointed!

I second that idea about Reef Runner Cicada's! Been using them for about six years now, and don't ever plan an early Erie trip without my Cicada box along! Gold is my mainstay. Tight lines

I like Vib-E's and cicadas in that order. I haven't tried the new VibE from Huron yet all mine were purchased from Mr. Edsworthy himself. I'm assuming the Huron shop bought the molds.

For Western Basin, Lake Erie, I would pick Silver Buddies or homemade version of buddies in gold or green; or Sonar knockoffs in gold, green and red. Cicadas would be at the bottom of my list.

Bought a Silver Buddy , laid in my tackle box for a long time . One day on Lake Macatawa MI I tried everything in my tackle box . Nothing would work . Marked lots of fish but a series of T-storms made things tough . Grabbed the Buddy as a last resort . On 3rd cast I caught a 28'' walleye ! About 5 casts later I hooked a fish that headed for Lake Michigan , peeled off 100 yds of line & never stopped (salmon?) . Took my Buddy with it . Went to the bait shop & stocked up . Havn't been on the lake without some since .

Zip Lures can work in just about any situation at any time of the year. They are available in 14 or 15 different colors and 4 different sizes. I've seen them for sale at Bass Pro, Fleet Farm, Gander Mountain, and Cabela's.

I fish Lake Macatawa quite a bit all season long. We catch more fish using Hopkins jigging spoons than with any other lure. Since he was asking about blade baits I didn't post on this but spoons are a REALLY effective method too. Next time it's tough out there, try hammered silver or gold spoons. Don't know why silver and gold work in that muddy water but they just do.

Had success in rivers from the detroit to the mississippi w\ ZIP lures. Excellent in cold water applications. They seem to have the best in vibration. Good for walleyes and smallmouth on Lake Erie, used them last april on Erie, mostly 1\4oz and 3\8oz. contact @ www.bitzercreek.com

Former Zip Blade user. Switched to Krazy Blades. Gentleman that sold the Zip company a while back started producing a new product. He has a nice selection of blade baits that I prefer. The weight is distributed a little different. The vibration you feel in the rod is tremendous. First reason I switched is the ease of use with fire-line. Couldn't use fire-line with the zip's got fouled way to much. Krazy blades eliminate the fouling problem with their different weight distribution. I'll tell you what using the fire-line gives you an entirely different feel of the blade working. I understand they redesigned the zip, spacing the hooks further apart to try to eliminate the fouling problem but I haven't used the new ones to see how this works. Use blades casting alot in shallow(6-2ft) snag infested areas. Lose alot of blades that brings us to the second reason I use Krazy Blades they are about 25% less expensive than other types of blades. Third reason they catch fish!

to waz; tell the dealers in your area to e-mail tertakdist@aol.com
concerning Krazy Blades or they can call him at 319 233 3672 !!
your pole will shake when using the krazy blades because of all of the vibration. we have used them now for 4 years. the vibes, cicadias
and gay blades don't even hold a chance in competing against the
krazy blades !!

The vibee baits are sold to dealers only, as far as i know Bill doesnt sell to distributors, but i may be wrong. they are top quality blade baits, and do work real well. they are made in Huron ,Ohio. by a good fisherman too, i may add. i hope this answers your questions. good luck and good fishin.
