I am thinking of getting motorguide transom mount 76 pound thrust electric. Will this motor have enough power to forward troll? How would it be backtrolling? I have used a 15 H.P. for trolling but did not like the extra 80 pounds hanging on the back of the boat.The motor will be used on Sylvan 17 foot aluminium with a 115 H.P.

I used an ET107V last year and was very satisfied with it. The extension handle is really nice, and the bracket mount worked very well. The 76 pounder should do well for your boat. If you plan to do more backtrolling than forward trolling, either reverse the head yourself, or have a shop do it for you. It's about a 10 minute deal.
