I haven't used leadcore in years but want to set up a couple of rods.I have some that I used 10 years ago.A friend gave it to me so I really don't know now old it is.It seems to be alright.Is it long-lived or should I not take a chance?

Check it to make sure it doesn't have any knick or frays. I have found that as my leadcore ages it's more difficult to peel back the braid to cut off the lead to tie knots. That could be from the alkaline waters I fish though.
