After last weeks input on the BPS line counter reels, I went to a Bass Pro Shop to check them out first hand. The actual size is larger than a Daiwa 27 and a hair smaller than the 47. When you compare the new BPS's with the 27's hand in hand the Daiwas rule. They just felt like they were made of better quaility. Without putting them to water it's hard to judge any reel but I did purchase 4 line counter's that day, all Daiwas.
my two cents.

I also had to check out the new BPS linecounters, and came to the same conclusion that you did. They just didn't have that "quality" feel in my opinion. I plan to get the Daiwa's. Just waiting for a sale somewhere. Anybody know of one?

Just a quick comment, the BPS Linecounters are more comperable to the Daiwa 47LC series than the SG27LC series. We chose this size to start so we could handle both walleye fisherman, leadcore anglers, and great lakes salmon/laker fisherman.

Unfortunatly they very seldom go on sale. Your best bet is to go to a sports show, there they have them on a small discount. I bought another one at the MN Walleye Expo from Thorne Bros. booth for $83.50 with the double handle, these usually sell for $92.00

Good Luck

Dakotamart in Pierre had them for 69.99 (the 27's) at the sport show in Sioux Falls a couple weeks ago. Don't know if they are selling them in the store or on-line, though.
