Thinking of getting a new spinning pole. Looked at a Series One but have never used one. They are 90 bucks around here. Are the any good or is there a better pole for that money? One I am looking at is a 6 ft med pole.

When I started building I said I'd never buy another factory rod again. And I was going to replace every single factory rod I had. The last two rods to replace are Berkley Series Ones. Since I didn't want to spend the money for new blanks at the time I stripped them down and rebuilt them. I'm not going to get rid of them now. One of the nicest factory blanks I've seen or fished. Really a great blank. Excellent rod for the money.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

I've used that rod quite a bit. You will fall in love with it. I own a St. croix that is twice the price, and it's a little bit lighter and a little more sensitive, but definately not worth the extra cash.
I have also broken both a St. croix and a Series One by my own fault. St. croix was fair and let me get another rod at 40% discount (costing me $90US for an avid), but Pure fishing canada (berkley's canadian distributer) just replaced it for free.

Great rods. Berkeley also makes another great rod that can be a bargain right now. Berkeley Lightning rods are being clearanced in some places including some Wall Mart stores. I and my brother picked up two for $43.00. That was one each. We also picked up a couple rebate forms from Gander mountain to get $10.00 back on each. So, we are getting two very good rods for $23.00. Not quite as nice as the Series one rods but very close and for just a little money. The money you save can get you another decent reel.

I believe the Berkley Series one is hands down the best rod for the money period. I have a bunch of them, and have used them for many years. I have used a lot of other brands including GLoomis, St. Croix and they are good rods too, but the Series one is a super high quality rod and a terrific bargain for the money. You can't beat the warranty either.
