I lived in the "manana state" for 10 years. Abiquiu is one of the first to turn on. Caught a limit of walleyes using pruple bass magnets there. Butte, Caballo, Ute, Conchas all should be going by tax day (April 15). The bass tournamnets start around the same time. You'd be surprised how many walleye we've caught on a Texas rig with a purple or bubble gum worm while fishing the bass tourneys in NM. In shallow water. But of all the things I miss about NM, it's gotta be the catfish action on the Rio Grande. Good any time of the year. From the shore!

I've heard the bassers complain to me of "limits" of 5 - 7 #WE messing with their bassing tournaments. Techniques not to be revealed :p.
