I just spooled up my trolling reels for this season with 10 LB. xt! I had enough for 3 reels and had to go purchase a new spoon for the rest! The old like is kinda dark green and powdery! The new stuff is shinny. Is the old stuff junk? It is about one year old. I used it last season and it worked fine. I just hate to sh_t can all that line. Thanks

All I use is 8# xt solar mostly jigging and casting no trolling. I find if you keep it indoors it's o.k. for 2 yrs. Usually faded line has seen sunlight which creates dry rot test it by hand if you can't break neither can the fish good luck try the solar you'll love it.

I use the XT solar in 12 pound test. Like the solar cuz I can see it easily above the water and it doesn't seem to affect how the fish react, it must be fairly invisible below the surface. I always buy the 3000 yard spools and have never had a problem keeping it from year to year. I keep all my line in a cool dark place and respool my reels often.
Take care and good fishing,

although i don't use 'old' line when there is money on the line, my experience is that you will be just fine. if you store your line and or rods out of the sun, no problem. some line ages better than others. xt, in my experience, ages well. nicks in your line from transporting your rods both on the hiway and in the boat should be of more concern. always strip off the line you used from the last time out before fishing again. don't let the line beat you...it's the cheapest thing you have in your boat.

Did you notice if the boxes where the same or different? Berkley change the line early last year. As for the powder it shouldn't be a big deal. The new line has a flag on the corner of the box, the old line has a black and red box without the flag.

It is the old box. The new spool I just purchased is different!
