What works best (minnows, crawlers, or leeches) for early spring river walleyes, either jigging or harnesses?
Thanks
Chad

Brown Suckers work the best for me. If you can get them.

Good healthy Blues or Grays. 1 1/2 to 2 inchers. Worked slow if the water is cold, faster if the water is warming with spring rain.

Suckers down here in the desert or shiners as a second choice.

Chad,

You only have about 3 choices here Chad, bring some of each. Never scimp on the cost of bait for the cost of your fishing trip. Bait is the cheapest part of your trip, all things considered. This way you and your partner can start out using different bait until a pattern is established.

Good luck,

Rainbow chubs-esp if the colors are bright yellow and red.
