Just started using boards and have a lot of questions. First, I fish in Oklahoma and haven't seen or know of anyone using these around here, therefore I come to ask the experts. I would like to shorten the learning curve.
It seems the spring on the flag is pretty soft, it doesn't take much speed variance to pull them down. I assume its ok for them to lower while turning.
Has anyone used deep divers on them? DLR's say 100-150 out?
It was fun using them yesterday. Walleyes were all still deep (17-25), but did cat a couple of nice crappie (14.5 & 15") and a bunch of white bass. I had people stopping me wondering what they were.
Thanks for the advice,
Okeye

You got the best in the offshores.. you can pull deep divers with them, to 7 colors of leadcore or some serious lead in either 3 way rig or bottom bouncer, I've run up to 4 oz. Go to the hardware store and buy some heavier springs. Won't hurt the flags to drop down but you may not know if you got a hanger on.

Go to the hardware store and buy the Century Spring C-73 and replace the off shore spring with it. You will be much happier with it.

tHE SCREW THAT HOLDS THE FLAG IN PLACE CAN BE TIGHTENED DOWN TO INCREASE RESISTANCE. IT'S OK TO LET THE FLAG DROP A LITTLE, BUT WOULD NOT ADVIE IT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU FISH WEEDBEDS. OFTEN TIMES THE FLAG WILL TELL YOU WHEN THERE IS SOME TYPE OF OBSTRUCTION BECAUSE THE FLAG DROPS SLIGHTLY. I'VE BEEN USING THE BOARDS FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS & WOULD NOT FISH WITH ANYTHING ELSE.

I was just about to go out to buy some new springs myself. At the Cleveland Sportsman Show I talked to a couple reps from O-S. Told me to drill a super small hole about 1 inch above the board on the tattle stem. Connect the spring to this new hole. I did this to 4 boards yesterday. Seems to work just fine. Make sure you use a drill bit that is slightly larger than the spring...
