What can I expect at the end of April on Erie?
Will i be able to catch Smallmouths?
What baits/lures should I use????

yes, fish slow and drag tubes or live shiners, good chance for a hog at that time, i have one mounted thats just shy of seven pounds that i got on a rattle trap the 3rd week of april 2 years ago, i,ll be headin there myself in a week or so, just be very mindful of the weather conditions and wind directions.

Serious Rebs? 1 fish a day limit?
Dunkirk NY has the finest smallie fishing anywhere. They get so big they don't even look like smallies sometimes ( and no, they weren't sheepshead!)

No closed season in OH. What Shadowman said + jigging spoons and blades. Wouldn't see why trolling wouldn't work, catch some incidentals trolling for eye's during April. No expert, but I'd start looking from 12 to 22' with a focus on 15-18' if you don't get better advice.

Good Luck,
jc

Oh yeah, what to expect? Expect it to be cold, rough, and likely wet if you can't pick your days on short notice. Take your cold weather gear.
