I have the intellimap 320 and it came with the pole mount setup. How/were do you mount yours for best performance and staying out of the way?

i mounted both of mine up at the front of the boat without the pedistal mounts. the front of the boat moves alot more than the middle/side or rear of your boat. personal preference.

look at the "pedistal" mount under lant-1....it stands the gps ant up about 3 inchs above the mounting surface.
mounting the ant. as low as possible but still with nothing blocking it's recieving capabilities keeps it out of the way.
hope that helps

ahh, yes. That is what the book refured to as the pole mount. You have to make your own pole to use that?

Those prices are insane.

I used an antenna mast mount. I put it on the starboard side of the boat, on the gunnel, right next to the windshield. This is the most protected area and never gets in my way.

That is were I planned on putting it, but what is a mast mount?

I mounted mine on top of the console, behind the windshield. Works great. Always a strong signal from multiple sats. These new 12 channels are great. I can even get a lock in my garage, but the door has to be open.

By an antenna mount mast, I think he means a mount like you would use for mounting a VHF antenna. I used a white nylon ratchet mount so my GPS antenna will fold down and not touch the boat tarp.

I mounted mine on the front. I did not use the pole mount. I put it to the side away from the trolling motor. I had to go and get longer screws (by the way they are metric). But it only sticks up about 1/2-3/4". Not in the way of anything. I get great signal and have had no problems.

Mine is mounted here:

and seems to work well as it doesn't get in the way of the snap-cover and gets good reception...

Exactly right, Toolman. That's what I did.

I mounted mine the same as Work2fish. I drilled one hole for the wire and siliconed it down. Less holes and is secure.

Mine is going to be the same place as work2fish only 20 inches higher.
