The book also says nothing about a fuse. These don't use fuses? If they do what size of fuse do they use?

I'll tell you what I did. Instead of a fuse, use circuit breakers at the batteries. It's too easy to accidently crush a glass fuse moving stuff around. You can reset the circuit breakers, so you never are caught without a replacement fuse. Definitely worth the money and you can install yourself...it's simple.

Yes, you are correct. No fuse. No mention of a fuse. Very poor on Minn Kotas part.

Get a 40 or 50 amp circuit breaker like Cabelas sells for $6 and connect it to your positive battery terminal as close as possible. My buddies Alumacraft had a piece of brass strap with holes drill in it to connect it to the battery, REW has suggested the same arrangement, works like a charm.

Would there be anything wrong with using a 60 amp one?

65 lb's * .75 amps = 48.75 amps Very close to 50 and that number varies. Don't want it to breake prematurly.

I have the same motor with auto pilot and use 40 amp.

You mention going with a 60 amp fuse.
There is really no need to go that high. A 40 or 50 amp will be fine.

But, before doing any of that - consider the size of your trolling motor wire from battery to trolling motor.
The purpose of the circuit breaker is to protect everything down stream from the power supply.

So - if you have 10 gauge wire, you should fuse no heavier than 30 amps.

If you have 8 gauge wire - no heavier than 50 amps.
If you have 6 gauge wire - then you could go to 60 amps.

Remember, the circuit breaker is to protect wires, connectors, motor, etc. Don't put a circuit breaker in your circuit that is larger than any of the components that are in the circuit, that should be protected by the breaker.

Take care and enjoy your purchase.
