This is unit number two,as long as i'm running in depths of around sixteen feet or there abouts at speeds to thirtyfive mph I have excellent readout but as soon as I drop off to forty feet or more I lose contact with the bottom or it becomes very very weak at best. This is the second unit that I have had this problem with, any ideas or help much appreciated. Try tipping the transducer foreward a bit. You are out-running the return signal at higher speeds. In other words, when it gets back to the boat after bouncing off the bottum, the boat has gone on. If you send the signal forward a bit, it will get to the boat when you are still in the area.

You might also move the transducer over a bit, either to port or starboard. You may be getting interference from the hull rivets, water pickup, etc. I had this happen. I moved the transducer over about 3 inches and lowered it an inch. That solved the problem.
