Wanting to know if there is a particular knot for putting stinger hooks on and then removing them. Would like a know that will allow you to slip the knot of the stinger hook over the hook on the bait and then when done, open up the loop and remove stinger hook. I've seen tied stingers where they've dipped the loop in liquid electric tape, but I don't like that. Would like to be able to loosen the knot on the loop of the stinger and remove it.
Thanks

Yes,
The best way I can describe it is a granny knot to determine length of stinger with a slip-knot in front of that. Leave a tag end to remove stinger and put it back on. I tie this knot with a pencil, it's tuff 'til you get the hang of it. The guy who showed me said it was pictured and published in one of the fishing magazines. I don't recall which one he said. Maybe somebody will post that for you.-------------------I think if you picture the first part and try to get what I described, you will figure it out. Good luck,Paul

Ok go to www.playnposm.com and in left hand column at bottom click on Stinger hook knot. Please forgive crude drawing. FYI, site is still under construction. Hope that helps

Just tie a loop using a surgeon's knot on the end of the stinger hook leader. Then you can wrap the line around your main hook, looping the stinger hook through loop you tied and pulling it snug. If you're using a treble, make sure to tie the loop large enough to fit the hool through.
You can also use quick-clips, but these work best with jigs. If I'm adding a stinger to to a regular snell I go with the surgeon's loop. It's strong, fast, and removable.

There is another neat trick you can work up. Some areas are now selling them pre made.
Tie your line onto a Stinger hook and leave about 4-5 inches of line attached. Then purchase the rubber bobber stops that have a wire loop run thru them for fishing the line thru.
Take the tag end of your line from the stinger and pull it thru the stopper with the Wire creating a loop in the line. Now all you have to do is adjust-pull the stopper down on the hook once you put the loop end over the hook shank. Easy to remove also, Leave a bit of line attached that allows for you to loosen the stopper enough that you can get it over the hook barb.
Works great.
I used the 8-12lb. line size bobber stops for 8 lb. line on the stinger. Considering that you are doubling your line it is tight but works fine. Just wet the line before pulling thru stopper.
Use other size stops for larger size line...

It was In-Fisherman magazine, about a year ago--I have the issue at home, I can post it later, but can't remember exactly which issue right now. It was a tip by Lance Valentine. He did seminars at the Gander Mountain stores around Michigan, and showed us there, too.
I just use a hangmans noose knot. Just like a giant slip knot. Works for me!

Parson's Kavajecz used to market a a stinger hook rig with a little clip that you could clip to the eye of the jig.
Take and buy a pack of the string bobber stops, tie a 4 to 5inch peice of mono to your stinger. Tag end tie a loop knot then slip bobber stop over the loop and tighten cutting off tag ends of bobber stop string. Put minnow on jig, stinger loop on hook, slide bobber stop against hook. This keeps the minnow from comeing off, and by slideing the stop back down, the loop comes of real easy.
