Last weekend we were out and the graph started reading fine and then the depth stayed on 14.7 feet and was flashing. I shut it off and turned it back on and then it just read 0.0 feet. Then after that, it would come back on for a minute or two, then go back to flashing.
As soon as we got back to camp, I turned it on and then checked the transducer for the clicking noise. It was more of a stuttered clicking noise that was not rythmatic but more like morse code.
So, my question is should I assume there is a short in the wire from the transducer to the unit or could this be an electrical problem in the unit??
Also, there was plenty of power to the unit and the speed and temp both worked equally well.

Was it the only depthfinder operating at the time? If there was more than one, you could have interference.

Check your battery and make sure it is putting out at least 11 volts. I had the same problem and called Lorance and that fixed the problem. They also said that the transducer has to be in water becuse that is what it's looking for when it is doing your problem. New batter worked for me. Ron
