I'm having a problem with my Lowrance 350A. It's constantly losing contact with the bottom. The digital reading starts to blink and then the bottom signal gets real thin, sometimes disappearing. Is this a transducer problem or is there something wrong with the unit. We were fishing in 6-12 feet of water. The depth finder is 2 years old and this is the first time I've used it.
HELP!! It drove me nuts! the lowrance manuel says to clean the transducer but it doesn't say with what? What should I clean it with
Check the transducer alingment/position closely. This can happen if the transducer is not parallel with the water.

First time you used it? Probably an operator error, the transducer should be at a slight angle (maybe 4 degrees) so it shoots where your boat is traveling. The part of the transducer that touches the boat should be the high side. Play with the units zoom and depth ranges, you simply might have been zoomed in to much or set at the wrong depth, especially when your boat got into the 11 and twelve foot depths? I'm sure the answer to the problem is only a few keystrokes away.
good luck,

Soap/water/soft cloth/sponge. Won't hurt to try, but unless you think it is dirty/oily...I've never had to clean a transducer.
No expert but here's a few thoughts: Since it's working some, I don't think this is it, but make sure the freq is set on 192 KHZ. Try turning it off and on. Check connection on back. If safe to do - on lake, with motor off, reach down and move the transducer a notch or two forward and a notch or two back and see what the unit does. There is a voltage readout on one of the windows screens you can check. Too low of voltage can affect transducer operation.
Wouldn't hurt to try it with asp off. I have always had trouble over soft bottoms of 4 ft or less, but never in anything over 5'.
Good Luck,

I don't understand the difference between 192KZ or 52? What does this mean. I believe I have mine set at 52 and it works.
Am I wrong?
The LMS350 is capable of running in 192KHZ or 50KHZ. It takes a either a dual frequency transcducer or a pair of transducers with a Y cable to use 50KHz. Few people use it as it is primarily for very great depths such as the ocean or perhaps the great lakes, it also has a wider cone angle. The dual frequency transducer is a big unit, perhaps three times the size of the 192KHZ so if you have one you will know it. I have a 350 and have not had it come up in 50KHZ mode but a buddy did and you get no depth reading unitl you switch it to the proper frequency. It's on one of the menu pages.
