Howdy all!
I'm in need of a little input from you agian. On a recent fishing trip, I had a near disaster. Upon launching the boat, my partner and I motored to our first stop......a rocky point off of an island. On about his second cast, my partner hooked into a real nice fish. As I went to grab the landing net, I realised I couldnt find it. I know for a fact the net was placed in the boat the night before the trip. In the meantime, as I was frantically double checking every corner of the boat, my partner lost the fish. Good or bad I'm not sure. Had it been an eight pound walleye, and we were fishing in a tournament, I think we both would have been pretty unhappy over the whole deal. We came to the conclusion that the net must have blown out on the interstate during the trip up to the lake.
Fortunatly we were able to go back to the resort that we launched at, and borrow a landing net from the considerate owner. To get down to my question, I need to buy a new net. Upon looking them over at the local bait and tackle shop, I have discovered many diffenerent types of nets. The one I had, and lost, was a long handled nylon coated net, with a slight dip/curve in the last 4-6" of the brim. It worked very nicely, however before forking over $20-$50 for a net, I would like to consider all options. I'm sure all of you have netted a fish on a crankbait, had the fish twist and lurch and wind himself, and the crankbait, into a snarled up knot. I'm sure the rubber landing nets would cut down significantly on this, however I'm not sure if thats the way to go. Let me know what you think!! Thanks in Advance!
