I have read about "Thermoil" a product used to extend battery life. Anybody have any experience with it? Could it help an old but good battery? Can you pop the tops off of sealed batteries and use it?

They should call the stuff "Snake Oil". Save your money.

Biff,

Please explain your opinion. This is the first negative remark I have heard about this product.

Personal experience. I saw no benefit to using the product. Did not perform as claimed. "Thermoil® is a unique and patented inexpensive battery additive that when added to your new or existing battery will increase battery life,(NO) increase shelf life,(NO) eliminate corrosion,(Definitely NO) greatly reduces water consumption,(NO) explosion,(Maybe) toxic fumes(NO) and will help to keep your battery working under any condition from -50º to 400º Fahrenheit"(Never get's that hot or cold)

Add to that, I have discussed this topic in depth with pretty smart engineer friends of mine. All agree, if a battery needed oil, the manufacturers would add it!

I'd like Thermoil to come see this post and substantiate their claims. I'd like to know the names of all these Major Industries” that have used the product for years. (Implying they sold the stuff only in 55 gallon barrels!)

Just my 2 cents. If you want to spend $10 bucks, it will not kill your wallet or your battery. Just won’t help it either.
