Fella's - I need your advice on which rod to buy for using bottom bouncers. I have been using some cheap graphite casting rods but I would like to have something with a little more feel. Also I seem to be going with more of the casting style rods lately as it seems that they leave me less sore after a long day fishing.I would be drifting with 3/4- 1 1/4 bouncers. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME !

i'm sure no ezpert but i have been using a ugly stick about 6 1/2 ft long. it seems limber enough in the top section to have some give. i think bouncer rods are normally used as dead rods in holders and i want some give so a lot of times the fish will hook themselves if i'm not paying close attention while casting or drifting with a second rod in my hand

Wristsaver has come out with a new bait casting rod. Works great for trolling very easy on the arm. If you want more info you can e-mail me at trwilson@speakeasy .net

fatboy- Take a look at any of the Flipping Stiks out there. I`ve been using an old Bass Pro Tourny Special- teamed with a baitcaster with the flipping feature, works great! 7 1/2 feet long and handles bouncers up to 3oz. no problem. Hope this helps- Bob WC#253.

I'll second the baitcaster vote for the Wristsaver rod. It feels VERY comfortable while trolling/drifting/casting.

Check out www.justfishontario.com and click on Bouncing A-Z. This is a great piece of info. I love to bounce and bought a St. Croix Avid 66AC/MLF with Cabela's Prodigy reel. I did a ton of research on this very same thing and found this to be the ultimate combination. The reel has a flippin' switch which comes in handy for bouncing. The rod was 150.00 and reel 100.00. Hope this helps.

I'll second the nomination of Bass Pro Walleye Signature rods. Designed and USED by Gary Parsons and Keith Kavajecz, you won't get any better functionality regardless of price. You can spend a lot more money, of course, but you'll not find any better rods and you might well end up with some ridiculously expensive rods that don't work nearly as well.

Doug-

What kind of warranty does BPS put on the P/K Signature Series rods, and how would one go about getting a replacement? Thanks for your help!

They have a 1-year warranty against breakage/defects. Just send it back and they'll replace it. If you're near a BPS store you can take it back there, of course. Frankly, I've got 5 different rods in the walleye angler series and have never had a problem with any of them. They're built extremely well, they hold up, they fish great, and they're inexpensive compared to comparable products. Plus, because each is designed for a specific walleye fishing technique you don't have to guess whether a particular multi-species rod will work for vertical jigging, bouncing, rigging, etc.

Gary Roach Lightning Rod - 8'6" - Berkley is great on taking back broken rods even when old models have been replaced. Approx. $60
