Has anyone tried the new "Slimers" baits? They are supposed to be made out of some new kind of material. They look interesting, and they feel "real" too.

I used them last year and they seemed to work well. However, the fish were biting pretty well, too, so I can't really say how they'll perform when the bite gets tough. I was impressed enough with them to make sure I've got a good supply for this season. They're far more flexible than traditional plastic leech imitations and look far more lifelike on the hook (at least to me). I'm going to experiment with them on light jigs under a slip bobber side-by-side with the real thing to get a better idea of how they really measure up. I've never had a tremendous amount of faith in plastics for walleyes, beyond twister tails on a leadhead, but I was pretty impressed with how these performed in the limited usage I gave them last year. I'm going to experiement with them a lot more this summer, that's for sure.

I've used them on deadstick jigging rods several times this year so far, and I like them. They've caught almost as many if not just as many fish as minnows have, and the fish tend to be a bit bigger, I think because it has a larger profile than a minnow. I've mostly used the white ones, I haven't tried the black or other colors enough to know yet.

Cabelas has them. I think they make white, black, and chartreuse. I'm not sure about any other colors though.

Cabela's is the only source I have found for them. I believe they make purple in addition to the colors mentioned previously.
