Was thinking of yamaha 4-stroke until salesman told me it was carberated and the merc. had efi and not carberated. $100 difference between the two motors..Is there any other differences between the two motors that you guys know of? I'm leaning hard on the merc. unless I can be convinced otherwise. Opinions please..Yamaha will not be out with Electronic Fuel Injection till next yr. Merc has Yamaha powerhead. Remember; HONEYDOO'S come before anything else..

Yamaha has had EFI since at least 2000. Check with another dealer.

Good luck.

of course, both engines will work great. i have put quite a few hours on the 115 black motor although my primary boat has a 90 fourstroke on it. i dearly wish my boat was rated for the 115 tiller because that motor is SWEET.
like me, once you go black...you won't go back.
good luck with the new rig!

The Yamaha 115 fourstroke is fuel injected. I have run one for the last 2 seasons. It has been flawless so far.

i have found the same to be true, the 115 is carberated. the 100 is not. what is wrong with carbs?

I believe that the merc has yamaha build the upper and they use there own lower unit, by the way the yamy 115 is efi with a micro proccessor.
