When running my planer boards there is often a bow or curve in the line to the boards and sometime a little slack. The planer reels are about 10' above the water. I usually clip the Boards to the top rung rather than the lower because the lower one made them dive and when looking out at the boards the first board is the one ahead of the one behind it. Any help ??? it would be appreciated...thanks

There are a couple things I can think of that would contribute to that......
Too much line out for your speed, the faster you go, the more line you can pay out.

Not all board track the same, Otter boats seem to be considered top of the line. If your boards don't have a lot of "pull" or the lag behind the boat, the line will sag.

That's good information Brian for a beginner, a good way to learn also is to go out on a charter and let the captain know that you want to do as much hands on learning as possible. That was the way I learned the basics. You can also go out with someone who has use planner boards and let them know that you need to learn the ins and outs of planner board fishning. I have used both in-line and large ski type planner boards to catch other species of fish, they are a good tool to utilize, in the Graet Lakes where the water can be extremely clear and fish a little spooky they can produce fish when other methods fail.

I like the slack in the tow line. It causes the boards to lurch and lag which imparts great action to the baits.
