I will be takin the wife an kids to cass lake in late aug. need help on go areas to take some nice walleye. I have never been on the lake!

Mid-day bite can be tough,especially in August. I do well trolling #5 shad raps around the big island early and late in the day. Good Luck !

I have been to Cass many times in Aug and the walleye bite for good fish is very slow . we always manage to catch at least 1 respectable fish . The only sure method was to troll shad raps over the shallow reef's in the N.E. part of the lake after dark . Early morning and late evening was the only jig bite and all you caugth were hammer handles which the locals would keep and eat . We stayed at Sunset Lodge ( Fine People !). The Pan fish for the Kids was a Big Plus you could set up over any weed bed and fish with a hook , split shot and worm . The kids caught more than I cared to clean every day. One other area to note is to go up the Mississppi to the mouth of Andrusa and fish the first steep drop and weedline . Take it slow the river is a no wake area . Also take note that the rock rip-rap on the way protect and old Indain burial site

wife and i have been going to cass lake for the last 3 years. stay at cass lake lodge. mike and terry the owners are fantastic. everyone trolls #5 shad raps at night and early morning on the big flats. lots of structure. thats the problem.lots of places for the 'eyes to hide. get the hot spots gps map. its very detailed and most people i've talked to use it. there is a long flat right in front of cass lake lodge that is good also. will be at cass lake lodge the last week of aug. also. hopefully see you there!!!
Shad raps or bottom bouncers with nitecrawlers early morning or after dusk unless it is overcast.
Try Deadman's Bar. Panfish in Allen Bay (shallower and weedier). Enjoy

I have fished cass lake alot. My favorite place on the lake is Cedar reef, and O'Neals point. I used #5 Shad raps (crawdad)trolling. I found that faster speeds seemed to work the best. I stayed at Anglers Besch resort, they also have very nice facilities. A map is a must it will help make or brake any trip.
