Fella's any feedback on how they are working/holding up. I have four of the 6600 series and think about putting the kits on them.The price of the kit is darn near the price of a decent daiwa linecounter reel.I will add that the reason that I even consider them is that the abu 6600 have the best drag the I have ever used.

I have three of them that I've used one season so far. No complaints. The nice thing is that you can calibrate them to match the type of line you are using.
I bought 2 from Cabela's.
They lasted 3 hours.
I believe both were blown out by static electricity from an oncoming thunderstorm.
Changed the batteries, still nothing.

Fella's after reading the post on the general discussion page I think that I will hold off on adding the kits for now.My drags on these reels work so good that I may just"count passes" and still use them.The drag is much more important than the counter when going for the august kings in lake mich. OPP'S did I say kings on the walleye site !:-)

I have 5 6600 series Abu Garcia reels. This spring I purchased 3 line counter kits with the intention that if I was satisfied, I would purchase counters for the other two 6600 reels and perhaps my 5500 reels. Two of the counters have worked fine all spring and summer on Lk Michigan for browns and salmon and inland lakes and rivers for walleye. One went bad after two trips. I have not purchased line counters for the rest of my Abu Garcia 5500 and 6600 reels.
I would hold off purchasing the line counters as the "count the line passes" method (Which is the reason I purchased these 5500 and 6600 reels in the first place.) is nearly as accurate and will always works as long as I can count...and I don't know how long that will be!

I have one, so far so good.
It does what is needed and the ability to calibrate for super braids or mono is handy. Easy 5-min installation or if need be to un-install. The night light could be a bit brighter yet it is very functional.
Easy to use and easy to upgrade an existing ABU C-3 & C-4 reel, so I give it a thumbs up.
