3oz. depending on what your running behind the snap weight, it pulls pretty good on the back of my off shore boards.

8 oz.'s on an Elberta Clipper release. I wrapped it once and used the heavy weight to pole-line in some heavy current. Didn't catch any fish but it worked great. I know that I can get a bait to any depth I want/need with these weights now and do it effeciently. Just won't be running that set-up on a board any time soon.

I have used 8 oz. while trolling for lake trout on the OR16.

I've read a couple articles by Kenny Darwin using what he calls "super weights" for trolling for walleye's & Salmon . If I remember correctly he used off shore clips (two of them) originally , then went to Church clips hung clothespin style on his line . He uses 24 oz. weights (thats right 1.5 pounds)100 feet plus from his lure . Uses it as a finesse rig instead of downriggers when the 8-10# rigger balls are spooking fish . It works , I've tried it , "but" , I don't really like it . I used it on my dipsey rods & it pulls like a large dipsey but doesn't release . You can fight fish on it O.K . because the fish is fighting the weight , too , plus it gives you a pendlum type action so fish don't break off . Used it for awhile but now I just lengthen my rigger leads or go to a smaller weight if I'm shallower . Or run Slide Divers with long leads .
Still use 1 - 1 1/2 pound weights & wire line occasionally for Lakers but thats about it . Not a "fun" rig .
There , beat that one . HA !

13 oz on a red offshore with pin or snappers. Slips just a bit with fireline. 8 oz on Church, never tried more, no slip.

Snappers will come off on some snags. The line slips under the pin in extreme situations.

Good Luck
