Does any one have firsthand experience with a Denver area taxidermist
who might be able to do a good job on a pike I brought back from Canada? Any help would be appreciated.

Gary- I don't know any taxidermists here in Denver. I have always had fish mounted wherever I caught them and then made a return trip (to fish again and pick up the mount) six months later or the next year. The best suggestion I can offer is to call one of the bait shops, like Uncle Milty's, and ask them who they might recommend. And meanwhile, I hope you have wrapped your fish in a black trash bag, as airtight as possible, and laid it flat in the freezer.
Chapmans in Ft. Collins is excellent. 970-221-0217

Hi Gary,
Congratulations on your fish. Mike Ross, in Parker, has won many state, regional and national taxidermy competitions. He specializes in fish. He's done 3 walleyes for me and I would recommend him highly. His number is 303-841-2310. Give him a call, I'm sure he'd be happy to show you mounts that he has in his shop, as well as a large photo catalog that he has built over the years. He's not the cheapest, but I don't think you'll find any better.
Good luck,

Thanks guys. I saw a walleye that Mike did at Valley Country Tackle and was very impressed with the quality. i have a very nice mount of a walleye done a few years ago but his was much nicer. He seems to be a bit pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. He recently moved from Parker to near Elizabeth. I intend to visit him soon.
Thanks again,

There is only one person in Colorado I would ever use - Tony Cannova/Acquatic Arts in Denver. His number is 303-744-0147. He did 2 pike for me back in 1990 that still look like they could swim right off the wall. He's not cheap, but his work is the best I've ever seen. If you'd like to see the pike he did for me, give me a call. They're hanging in my office in Littleton - 303-489-7058.
