I see posts that allude to the fact that walleyes seem to be found in many lakes and habitats. I remember seeing a lot of walleyes caught off the dike in Davenport Ia when the Miss R. looked like coffe wih heavy cream, (prior to that I thought walleyes had to be found in clear cool water. I also read posts that talk about walleyes being caught in green algae waters. We have a number of lakes that the state has tried to stock with walleyes and it has largely been a failure (by their own admission) ..including the big quabbin res. which support large mouths , small mouths , lake trout, salon and has a good smelt population. they have tried a few massive walleye stocking w/o success and I understand have given on on trying again. The same with other waters. What is the criteria for a walleye fishery?

Garvin, I can not give you a real good answer here. The only thing that I can say is that the Wisconsin DNR website has some pretty good fact sheets on Walleye and other species regarding habitat, life cycle and techniques. Here is the address if you are interested.

If nothing else you could do a search on Walleye and see what you come up with. Hope this helps. Later Dcksnbcks
