Hi,
It seems that Stinger has not solved their paint problem like they said they did.I have three spoons that have caught 1 Steelhead each and the paint is off them. These have just been purchased.Anyone else still having this problem.

I tried a couple of new colors this spring to see if they were better, but the paint came off of them also. The only fix I can find is to no longer buy from them. I am afraid this is more a marketing thing than a paint problem. PA's and even the cheap "put together" ones from net crafters hold paint.

They make their money, and if the spoon works, it makes you want to buy more am i right? As long as you can have success with other brands and makes, that makes it all the easier to walk away from a product you are not happy with.

I quit using Stingers a long long time ago, if i run spoons im running PA's, Northern King, Net Crafts, Steffey, or Krocs by Luhr Jensen.

I still have old stingers in the packages...with the paint falling off...WHAT BS

I am also having this problem. I loaded on up Stingers early in the season. Good thing I did, because two fish and they are done. I now have a box full of plain copper and silver spoons. Terrible paint jobs. I also have begun switching over to PA's, and the Jann's Netcraft put-togethers. I also picked up some Silver Streaks at Gander Mountain, and they have worked pretty well so far. Has anyone tried the RAC spoons yet? I saw them at Gander Mountain, but did not pick any up.

Hi,
I bought 2 Rac in Wheatley Canada 3 3/4" and caught a 28" walleye on one and it bent up .They seem to be very thin.the shorter one might be better.

If you are looking for another good alternative from a proven spoon manufacturer, try Silver Streak Jr. Streaks. They work great. I had a stinger that I don't even remember what color it was originally because it is now a hammered silver. It was one of my best spoons this year. I actually scrapped the paint off another spoon so I would have two. I agree though, the paint on the stingers isn't worth the $$. I can't believe such a little piece of metal costs $3-4.

Talked to a few bait shops along the shores of Erie looking for Pas Spoons. They told me they would get some in just as soon as they got rid of the stingers. They felt that once fisherman tried the Pas they wouldnt buy any more stingers.,and he was afraid he would have to eat the stingers he had on the wall.He was thinking of cutting the prices on them just to get rid of them.

Rak,and Net Craft spoons work pretty good, but i to have switched to Pas Fintail spoons. There a little heavier and they dont bend as easy. Not even when the bullets hit em.wish they came in more colors.

I know what you mean Dean. Since i became unemployed i was fortunate enough to get a part time job first mating this summer. Believe me i had no idea that this problem with the stingers was that bad. Now i know why the captain was trying different spoons all the time. We probably had over a hundred spoons that had no paint on. We have now settled on 2 brands. Pas Fintails and Zoom spoons, the Zoom spoons are only covered with tape no paint and the Fintails are holding up real well.

Calm waters and cool weather.

Do yourself a favor, throw the #### things away, the paint dosent stay on,the spoons bend to easy and the hooks are cheap. But like someone else said.Good Marketing. You woudnt buy a tire for your car if it was made that cheap,a rod for fishing,or a reel.I pay good money and expect to get a good product, thats why i switched to someone elses spoons to.

I know what your saying. The cost of everything has gone up.
Property Taxes.---I cant do anything about this.
Gas Prices at the Marina=== Cant do anything about this.
Dockage.=====Cant do anything about this.
Boat Insurance.+++Cant do anything about this.
Sales Tax+++++Cant do anything about this,
Gas for heating the house this winter.++++Cant do anything about that either.
Just think how many things you have nothing to say about. Then you buy a spoon that the paint comes off in 2 weeks and sometimes sooner, Well finally i have found something that i can have some control over. For the past month i have tried different brands. Net Crafts. Some i got from Cabelas and Pas Fintail. Net Crafts are holding up but i wish they were a little heavier. Pas Fintail seem to be working very well and they are a little heavier, and now i trying the ones i got from Cabelas. When i finally deceide ,i wont have to buy spoons as much as i do now. Its nice to know some companys still make a quality product.

Maybe if more fisherman quit buying a poor quality product, the Mfg. might improve on the quality. But as long as we keep buying em, im sure they will keep making them the same way to keep sales up. Its back to tha almighty dollar.

Just a Thought.
Hope the season finishes with great success. See ytou on the road.

I can appreciate the various views on "Paint Lost" relating to Spoons that are painted here in the United States, but I'm confused as to the amount of Paint Lost on the Stinger Spoons? Those of you who know me, know that I own a broad selection of all of the Popular "Brand-Name" Spoons, and I use "all of them" throughout the entire Fishing Season.....I assure you that all brands lose paint after regular usage, but to say that only one company has paint problems is not correct. Due to Lead and other various Solvent and, Clearcoat Paint Restrictions that our Govmt. imposes on the U.S. Painters, it's impossible for any spoon to retain it's paint forever.... I Troll with all my spoons (including) Stingers, and when I'm finished at the end of the day, I hang them verticaly in one of the many spoon boxes that I carry with me. I too, will lose some paint, but Never to the Extent of others, who throw their spoons into a Bucket, or a Box at the end of the day. The banging around of one metal spoon against another, while traveling over the water, will do more damage than any teeth-marks left by the largest fish!! Remember: alittle TLC goes a long way!! Good Luck and Great Fishing!!!!Capt. Jerry

WalleyeWarrior:

I understand what you are saying. However, I am talking about putting on a "brand new" spoon, catching a couple of fish, and then having to take it off your line and replace it with another "brand new" spoon because all you are left with is a plain silver spoon with a few remnants of paint. No one is questioning the fish catching ability of a Stinger Spoon with a new paint job. We just wish the paint job lasted longer so that it would continue to catch fish.

I know what your saying. If i were to buy my wife a red Corvette and three weeks later it weas just a fiber glass car with no color. What do you think would happen to me. Cut off for life. They may fool me once, they even may lie to me and fool me twice, but believe me they will not get the opportunity to fool me a third time.

Hi,
When I started this post it was not to knock stinger,it was to see if anyone else was having problems with the paint.I had paint come off a silver streak after catching 10 steelhead on it.

I to am not saying the stinger dosent catch fish,it does. But when my favorite bait shop tells me he loves em because of the way the paint comes off,he feels it really helps his sales.Comments like that make me sick.Is this what were fighting. The Bait shop loves em because the paint comes off, more sales, more profit, The mfg loves it for the same reason, and the low guy on the list forks out more money. Ive read each and every post about these spoons, and when someone tells me that the paint is coming off on some Stingers that he still has in the packaging its sold in, i start to wonder. If a carboard backing and a plastic bubble takes off paint,we have to say something might be wrong. AGREE. I wish Stinger great success, but i for one will not buy any more of their spoons. There are a lot of other companys who make spoons which i consider are made with more quality these are the ones i will purchase in the future.

LTM.
Enjoy the rst of the fishing season.

Walleye Warrior ,i hope your not telling us that if we want a spoon to last more than a few weeks we should buy one from a company that makes them over seas. I buy U>S> cars, yes the paint finish is not as good as many imports, but it dosent come off in a year or two either.

I never get involved in these conversations, i just like to read what fisherman are saying. If your not happy with the Stingers do what i did, switch spoons. I now use some Raks, some Fintails, and even some i got from Bass POro out of their catalog. Problem solved.I have used the same spoons all summer and feel that they will still be good next year.

As long as fisherman keep buying this product as it is presently being made, the company will never change what they are doing. Like Denied said, its Marketing and profit.
