I'm sure most of you have noticed that with a light to moderate wind blowing into the right piece of structure that you have caught many fish on the downwind side. Most claim food gets washed off the top of the reef and baitfish go after it. Probably true, However, I'm starting to think more and more that many fish are cruising from structure to structure on the down wind side to scent check the reefs for oils from bait fish. Once a pod is located the fish moves in and slashes into the minnows.

Just like a coyote would start hunting on the downwind side of a thicket. Just a thought.
