Looking to buy 4 linecounter rod and reels. I want somthing that I can use for walleye and salmon,steelhead.Just looking for somthing durable without getting to pricey.Any help would be greatly apppreciated. Thanks Jimmy

If there is a Dick's around you, they had a Penn LCD line counter combo for $79. I understand the reel is top quality. I got one, which I would have picked up another. I have seen the reel elsewhere for upwards of $125 with no rod.

I have Shakespeare line counters, with their Ugly Stik Lite rods. Seems to be a good combo for boarding walleye, and trolling salmon and steelies. I think it ends up being a little over a hundred bucks for the combo.

Bass Pro shops has a new line counter called the Gold Cup. It is based on the Daiwa Sealine reel bodies/gears. Very durable, good drag, bait clicker, etc. The good thing is that you can buy them with a Walleye Angler Trolling Rod and the combo price is $79.98 (normally 199.98 is purchased seperately). Any of the rods will work fine, but for salmon and walleye use I'd probably go with the 8'6" rods. I know their tough enough because we have caught lots of steel head while fishing for walleyes in the Great Lakes.

I bought two of the SG27LC/Diawa 8 1/2ft Rod combos from these folks and I am real happy with them. Used them all summer without a hitch.
