I have seen those "American angler" ones at work. They have a pointed blade and seem to do a very slick job. Check on page 271 of the new Cabelas catalogue.

The very best knife I've used is the Electric Fisherman with the 9 inch blades. I once recomended an American Angler knike to a friend and he couldn't use it well so he gave it to me to compare while using mine. I still have his and never use it. Maybe we couldn't figure out the trick though. I can clean 5, 20 inch + fish in about 10 mins zipped too. -Kevin
Try a Black & Decker Slim Grip (kitchen knife). I cleaned 2500 fish with mine last year and have done as many as 4500. I've tried most brands and the B&D seems to hold up the best - the switches usually go first on most brands. I also prefer the higher rpm of the B&D.

I've told you a MILLION times don't exaggerate
Hey Doubting Thomas: These fish are cleaned for guests at a resort and the numbers are conservative estimates. During a hot bite, cleaning 200 fish a day is not uncommon. I've burned through more knives than you'll use in a lifetime.

I also have been using the Black and Decker slim grip for about 7 years now. It is by far the best electric knife I have used. I have a mister twister and American Angler collecting dust in my garage. Actually they have become my loaners for buddies to pitch in and help clean the catch of the day.
I like the higher RPM's, slim handle, and the uncoiled cord set on the SLimGrip. The one I got came with an extra set of short blades and they work great for perch and panfish.
I may be wrong but I think the pointed blaeds are more for looks than practicality on an electric knife.

I too have a Mr. Twister -- the handle seems large to me.
Where do you B & D at? WalMart??

I see there's two different models of the B&D Slim Grip, EK 100 or EK 300. Is one preferred over the other? The diffence in cost seems to be about $7.

i bought a slim grip black and decker and it seems to work fine...i catch a fair number of fish...lots of panfish.....the mister twister lasts me one season...so far the b&d made it that far and it seems to be in great shape...thanks for the tip jay...i wondered if you were a b&d salesman at the time but took your advice...so i guess i'm a skeptic who still likes to trust advice from strangers...so long as the stranger fishes....steve

B&D factory store. I do a little part-time at the one here in Iowa,so get a little discout also...Had one three yrs. now and still going strong. There are a couple stores in Minn.-one South of Twin Cities and one North. I think three in Wisconsin-Oshosh for one; and a couple in Illinois. Check Black&Decker.com-should show you factory stores. Walmart, Menards, Lowes, and Home Depot all carry B&D products also.
