I just have to post on this. I was lucky enough to be back in my hometown of Bismarck, ND over the All-Star break. During this time I was able to attend the sport show. Each year you always see something new that attracts your attention. This season it was the Bait Tamer made by JNB Originals. I am so excited to put these to work this summer. For those of you who haven't had the chance to see these yet, they are a mesh minnow bag. What a great idea! These will replace my plastic buckets in a quick hurry. So practical and easy I have to say I wish I would have thought of them :). Great job Joe and Nancy, keep up the great work! To get a look at them you can go to www.driftbag.com they have them on the home page. Simply AWESOME! Good fishing and don't forget to shoot the puck. Mike Peluso #999

The Bait Tamer has been around for about 2yrs. Gary Roach had told me he had used one in 2000 and was great. I used one for leeches last year and just changed water twice @week and don't lose a leech from May till I dump them in Sept. I have the yellow one which is good for 1/2 to 1lb of leeches. The roughness on the yellow covering seems to clean off the slime. Just clean inside w/sprayhose when you change the water.

Dennis: What do you keep the leech tamer in for this time -- refrigerator or something else?

Thanks.

Dennis, I also can vouch for the leach tamer. Last year I had the bigger bag full of them for most of the summer. I always left a small amount of water in the live well and lost NO leaches at all. Just left the tamer right in the boat. I think the ticket behind the tamer is the leaches clean themselves and are at the top as it floats.

Tried the leech tamer last year. Worked pretty good. I actually just tossed the bag into the lake.

Is there any way to order this stuff rather than mail order?

I keep my leech tamer in a small lunch cooler when its real warm out so I can add ice when I want to keep them cool. I then store them in the fridge in the small cooler when not using them.
Heat is the #1 killer of leeches because if they warm up for any period at all they spawn and die so keep them at 40F or so all the time.

Like everyone before me has said the products made by Joe and Nancy Beech are the greatest. I have had the same leeches in the leech tamer bags for 1 1/2 years. I put about a pound in each bag and put about 3" of water in a 2lb ice cream plastic bucket and put them in the refer. Need to just keep water clean. I only lost a few around the time they start to spawn but very few. The new minnow bait tamer will be the greatest thing ever. I also run a Targa and they are great for our live wells. Also check out there planer tamers and bottom bouncer tamers, there great. Don't forget there best product the Wave Tamer Drift Bag.

Yep, Joe and Nancy keep coming up with great products for us!

Congrats, Mike. I heard they had a little ceremony for ya while you were in Bismark. Also heard that your folks were pretty proud!

Not to be confused with the Leech Tamer, the new Bait Tamer is a collapsible cylindrical mesh minnow "Basket" that will allow one to used and stored in places where the ridged bucket could not go. In my case, I do not have a bait well in my boat and always struggled to fit my buckets in the live well. Additionally, I do not have lots of storage either. This is the answer and I was thrilled to get an early peek at one as well. As always this was made VERY well and will easily fit my needs...and I can't wait till open water! WTG J&N @ the TamerGroup! Another notch on the belt! ;-)

With strong winds from the south and 50's this week, looks like we may have an early ice off. (Won't see me cryin' about that either.) And they called this a winter...HA!

Fleet Farm carries their Wave Tamer so you could check out a store if there's one located near you this spring. Might take awhile for them to have in stock. Also I'm sure there are other outlets like Gander Mountain, BPS, Cabela's, etc. that stock products from driftbag.com.

Thanks Dave! They did do a deal at the high hockey game for me back in Bismarck. The hockey program hung a sign up in the rink that reads Aim High and Work Hard! Mike Peluso #17 Chicago Blackhawks. It kind of took me by surprise and I had no idea they were going to do this for me. It was pretty cool! Thanks again, Mike
