Olympic sports are being added every four years (definition of the sport of Skeleton -- hurtling head-first down a chute of ice on a teeny, tiny sled at unbelievable speeds with almost no protection for your body while praying that you and everyone else survives).

You'd think sooner or later there would be Olympic Ice Fishing.

It's a winter sport. It's older than any of the other sports in the Winter Games. It has more participants in real life anywhere there's hard-water winter. It's an equal opportunity sport for men, women, young, old, big, small -- even grumpy old men.

The Games can even hire the starter for the Indianapolis 500 to get the event going: "Gentlemen......Start your augers!"

Hey, it's at least as exciting as Ice Dancing. And after they award the medals, everybody gets to enjoy a Fish Fry. As long as you've got a good cook on board, everybody ends their day at the Games burping and happy. What could be more Olympic than that. -- mark

Personally I would like to see winter synchronized swimming in a lake. Now there's a real sport.

Possibly an adult beverage or two might be served at the metal ceremony.

Or maybe creative "RV ice parking" - Most weight wins! As the trial to this sport was recently held at Detroit Lakes, MN. Not sure who won though?

He guys, since in Michigan we always seem to have the Coast Guard and various rescue agencies rescuing ice fishermen during the year, my wife suggested olympic ice rescue teams as a sport. I think she has been hitting that red wine to muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
