Hey guys, I need some suggestions. Can any of you recommend some good walleye books? I want to pick up 2 or 3 to read over the winter months. I currently have "Walleye Patterns and Presentations" by The Freshwater Angler, and "Walleye Wisdom" by In-Fisherman staff. Even though they are both about walleye fishing, they contain a lot of different information.

Any other good ones out there?

Western Walleye by Ron Boggs is a real good one. He has others that are real good too. Tons of info, a great author, even funny at times. Sold here at WC I believe, under walleye products.

I have read the following recently and have enjoyed them.

and another by PWT pro Mark Martin, can't find it right now but think it was titled "Fishing the four seasons".

If I had to pick just one to recommend, Babe Winkelman's "Jig Fishing Secrets" or maybe its called "Secrets to Jig Fishing for Walleyes". I can't state the exact title because I loaned it to a friend two years ago and he has not returned it "yet". The book is probably 17 years old and may not be in print anymore.

Anyone who knows which book I'm talking about please correct me on the title.
I've read it dozens of times over a five year stretch or so in the late 80s. Taught me alot about jig fishing. Wish I still had it, but what are friends for anyway if you can't loan them things and never get them back.

Trolling from Top to Bottom - Mark Romanack, it is not all specific to walleye but good info if you are a troller.

I am reading Trolling Top to Bottom.

I like it. Just about every chapter is written by a different walleye expert. Makes for some good reading.

One thing, though. It reads kind of like a big advertisement for Offshore Tackle products. Other than that, its a nice book.

Babe's book is out-of-print. You can pick up at Amazon .com. Copies run about $5.00 Search for Winkelman.
It has a 5 star rating. (out of 5) star rating.

The book I always recomend as a second or third book to read is "50 trouble shooting tips" by Mike McClelland??? It has changed the way a lot of people I know "think" about walleye fishing. I read it before toueny season every year just in case I have forgotten something. wa_walleye

Second that McClelland recommendation. Also, I really enjoy the multi-volume In-Fisherman Critical Concepts walleye series - it is up to date and makes for great reading - ordered the package late last fall and got many hours of enjoyment reading these books over the winter, you'll even find some familiar names from WC mentioned and plenty of perspective from Al with lots of good information.

There are two books that every angler must read and they are 5 Roads to Walleyes by Mark Romanack and Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers.

Mark does an outstanding job in relaying his knowledge to print form to help us understand it.

P.S Spoon Plugging by Buck Perry is great too.

Pick up every old issue of Walleye Insider you can find. The above mentioned books are great also, and I've read them all. The old Walleye Insiders have a wealth of information on all kinds of presentations. I have copies going back to the first issues and it is a wonderful reference library. It's also kinda fun to see how things have changed when I read the older issues again, they make me wonder if I really understand all I know about fishing for walleyes....

"How to Win the Walleye Game" by Jeff Murray and Mike McClelland. It's an older book but lots of good old plain info in it.

I also think "How to Win the Walleye Game" is the best that I have ever read.
