View Full Version : Triumph Boats
Anyone have any experience or information about Triumph ropelene(??) hulls? It is a Genmar owned company and a local dealer wants me to promote the boat for him.
Again, thanks in advance,

I asked a friend of mine what he knew about them, he said he had never heard of them but would check and let me know. 3 weeks later he emailed me that he had bought one. He was running a rig he was real happy with, no intention of replacing but the boat impressed him enough that he bought it! If you would be interested in talking to him email me and I'll get you in contact with him.
I have no first hand experience with these boats. However, they do have a very poor reputation. You should look at this purchase VERY carefully. These boats were previously sold under the name "Logic". Genmar bought the company and changed the name.
Good luck,
Pete
Gilligan,
Get me his address. I know when things are new they have to work the kinks out and a lot of company's leave it up to us, but I know that doesn't mean it is a bad product forever. Some are, some aren't.
Thank you,
Brian
Pete,
Where is the source of the bad rap. Poor pricing, bad product, no customer support, bad comapny reputation, etc.
Brian
BRS1,
I purchased one last summer. So far I am very impressed with the performance and capability of this boat. I bought the 21ft. center console, I have had it some rough stuff and the boat performed well. The only complaint that I have is that the fit and finish could have some improvement. But if you look at the price compared to what you get...it well worth the money. I am looking forward to getting it back to Erie and Michigan this spring. Let me know if you have any questions.

Jose,
Thanks, this is more like what I have been hearing from folks here in the desert, but I like checking with the big water boys on handling and general characteristics.
I hope to hear from others on what the negative aspects were, or if it was a fluke.

Brian,
I don't remember many of the specific complaints, as I said my impression is not fron first hand experience. I have seen posts on these boats on www.thehulltruth.com. Do a search using "logic" it should pull up some old posts. If I remember correctly, there were a lot of complaints about fit and finish. I don't remember whether the complaints included any structural issues or whether the problems were just cosmetic. Also look on the boating board at www.wmi.org Go to the saltwater fishing message board and click on "boating". Again do a search for "logic".
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Pete
I have no complaint about the structure of the boat. I believe that it is a very tough boat. My complaints have been the finish, more so inside the boat. But, that is kinda good. You will not "hurt" this boat. One other complaint that I have, is they seem to be a little light in the bow. They have fixed this on the new models. They removed the 85 gal. tank and went to a 70 and moved it farther forward. I am very pleased with mine so far!!!!

I looked at these at Cleveland show. For their intent I think they will work with future development. If you are looking for lots of glitter glitter they aint that. Nothing more than rotational molded polyethylene with the inherent strengths and shortcomings. You can take a sledge hammer to this material and not leave a dent. The poly material they use they call it Ropolene.
Bass and Walleye Boat Feb issue covers this. Longitudinal strength was listed as area needing work by B&W Mag.

Pete,
You are correct. I read through the posts and found that most people didn't like the fit or finish, but for the discounted price it was worth it. These are two things that Triumph has tried to address in some of the new models, but they can only do so much with the material.
Thanks for the great links to check.

Brian,
Sorry that I didn't remember specifics, I just remembered that these boats had some problems. I didn't really pay that much attention to the issue and I really don't get into bashing other people's boats. One of the things I have found is that you have to take a lot of posts with a grain of salt. People are generally well intentioned but we all have our prejudices. I'm glad you found those links informative.
Pete
Pete,
Thanks again, I did find it very informative.

one of the Moderaters at boatfix.com runs an operation for SeaTow down in the "Keys" . He is running them this year for his tow boats, you might want to check there.
