This year, one of my (many) list of items to purchase is "good rain gear." I have looked for years, but have never been able to take the plunge for the full set -- coat and bibs. I have fly-in trip in Canada booked this spring, and don't want to be locked in the cabin on nasty days.
I have read some very good reports about the Cabela's Guidewear on WC. Parka -- $200 and bibs -- $180.
I just received a sale catalog from Bass Pro.
Their Bone Dry coat normally costs $200 (on sale for $130) and the bibs normally sells for $180 (on sale for 130). The only hitch is that the jacket only comes in red and bibs in black.
There also is coupon for $15 off.
Anyone had experience in the Bass Pro rain suit? It seems like a pretty good deal (at least price). Or should I take the plunge on the Cabela's gear (or perhaps something else)?
Thanks.

I would go with cabela's guideswear. It really is the best rain gear out there, and if you ever have a problem with it, just send it back and they will give you a new (whatever you need) free of charge. Good luck!
Cabela's in Mitchell, SD has both the bibs and jackets on "SALE" right now for $129 ea.... better get em' while there HOT! I love mine.

Are these available on line at this price??
I also hated to take the "leap". Last spring after several of my friends had the Cabela's Guidewear for a few years,I finnaly took the plunge. Wish I had done it sooner!!!!!! Last year was VERY wet here in MN. I never got wet once! I had previously owned the Gander MTN. Guidewear. It was good stuff, but it does not begin to compare.
Once you spend the money you will not regret it!!!! My 2 cents.

I just got my new cabelas guide wear and it is very nice. I had a bass pro before and there is alot of difference in the two. Spend the extra money and get the best!
Mike, They are not available online at this price. You can probably call their 800 number and they may honor it though? Tell them you seen their recent add in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader and want to take advantage of the sales price online or via telephone.

Does Cabela's guide wear come in camo patterns and is it quiet enough for hunting and light enough for backpacking. I would like to get gear that I can use to fish, hunt and backpack with.

Just food for thought but when and if you buy Guidewear you may want to buy a new life jacket. I had to get an xxx to fit over mine. Just something to think about before you go out and find your old one won't fit. JIM
