anyone have the new ultimate guidewear ? is it heavy ? I kinda have a litte stash for buying some but have been told that with me fishing the det.river that I should get some of the mustang stuff due to the fact that if I ever fell in the river with it's current I would be history. And I do fish alone most of the time.

I use the Mustang Survival gear in colder weather and Cabelas Guidewear in the summer. They are both great at keeping you dry and warm, with the Mustang equipment being the warmest of the two. I also fished the Mo. river alone frequently below the dam a Ft. Thompson, very cold fast water, that's why I bought the Mustang Survival gear. With recent health issues I've been told my days of fishing alone are over. Time will tell...

Where did you purchase your Mustang survival wear?

I ordered mine thru Sheels in Sioux Falls, they matched the LHR services prices. www.lhrservices.com/mustang/mustang_main.htm

I'm going to purchase a Mustang suit.

A few questions. Which suit?

1. Mustang Survival Coverall
2. Mustang Anti exposure Coverall worksuit
3. Mustange Ice rider suit

Also I'm 6' and about 215lbs... Anyone know the right size to get?
I want a bit of room for layering underneath.

Rebs, do you wear the suit ice fishing as well as on the Niagara? The only reason I ask is it can get alot colder on the ice than in a boat surrounded by 33-35 degree water. Thanks.

How comfortable is the Mustang suit for wearing in the boat? Is it much bulkier than a snowmobile suit or Carhardt suit?

I have the bibs and parka, and I would have to say they wear the same as my Columbia bibs and Parka. Very warm, I rarely wear more than a long sleeved sweat shirt and and a long sleeved shirt. When it's below zero I'll break out the long johns.

Either the survival or the Anti Exposure suit are great. I'm not sure which W.C. board member bought the Anti Exposure suits for himself and his wife and they really appreciated the comfort the suit provided. I use the bibs and Thermo system parka and it's very comfortable and warm. I wish I would have gotten 1 size smaller though, this stuffs made in Canada not Japan so they get the sizes a little bigger than say Columbia gear...

Dutchman, is this something Scheels stock or did they special order it for you?

Pete I don't do any ice fishing but I would say it would be plenty warm
I wear it when snow blowing also
on the river when the north wind blows it is very cold but no problem other than it messes up the drift a little

Special ordered it for me. They are a distributor but they don't stock it.

I have the icerider in size xxlarge. They fit nice not to tight and not to loose.I`m about the same size as you at 6-1 and 225lbs.Like the others say you don`t need much on under these suits. Also in the summer try it on and see how it floats you.You will be suprised how good they are.I know i was.

I'm 6'2" 215 lbs and I wear a xxlarge Mustang Coverall. I like the Mustang coverall as it is US Coast guard rated Type 5 PFD. So I don't have to have a life preserver on at all times.
The coverall allows me to move freely. I have been on the Niagara at 20 below and all I wear under it is jogging pants and a flannel shirt. Search the web for the best price. I ended up buying mine at Landfall.
