When you pour Jigs what size hooks do you like to use? 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2.

Thanks

I would use 1's for 1/16-1/8 and 2/0 for 1/4-3/8 I only use Eagle Claw 575 jig hooks .Bronze is best but gold will work ok .The size of hook depends on the body size you use.If your mold has a barb made in it fill it in with epoxy and file a hook gap in it. The barbs on a jig head are good for one thing,to tear up grub tails .You need no barb unless you are going to tie on maribou hair or feathers.

Keep your hooks Sharp

I would also suggest size 1's, 1/0 or 2/0 - but prefer the mustad jighooks as they use slightly finer wire than the eagle claw and are sharper IMHO. Tried gamakatsus but am still forming an opinion - I think they are too strong - won't bend to release a jig from a snag -I'll have to get back to you on that one. Prefer the bronze for all applications. Chuckles

Most Do-it Jig molds list the size of the hooks for the cavity. I always use the larger size. Try Mustad's Ultra Point jig hooks if you're looking for an excellent hook at a reasonable price- they are really sharp- I buy them at Stamina Tackle. Jim Carroll NPAA #588
