I would like to find information (probably a book) on different trolling methods. I am interested in the in-line planer boards and Lake Michigan fishing (down riggers, dipseys). What do you recommend?

I know about the Precision Trolling book; is there much how to information in the book? For instance, I really am not sure of trolling speeds for the different species. Will the PT book help with aspects such as this, or do you recommend a different source?

I guess it would not have to be in a book -- perhaps the information is on the web somewhere.

Thanks.

The Precision Trolling book has a good summary of the various trolling techniques. If you are going to get serious about trolling you will need it. Its a must have item. There are charts in the book on dipsies or for more info on dipsies try this...

No info on downriggers in the book...

Rick,

There is a book called "Trolling Top to Bottom", and can be found on the products page here at Walleye Central. It covers everything you want to know, or at least most of it.

By the way, I left you another post asking for your email addy. The email you sent me this morning had a return addy of scott@walleyecentral.com, so I need your addy to respond to you. You can email me at juls@walleyecentral.com with it.

See the other post too "Message for Rick Mitchell"...had another message for you in it. By the time you see this the other post will probably be on the second or third page, so you'll have to find it.;-)

Trolling Top To Bottom is definitely a good read covering a great variety of situations - the "how to's and why's" explained from many top Captains and Tournament Champs.

You might also want to subscribe to "Great Lakes Angler" magazine - some good articles / tips in there. www.glangler.com

Also sign up to get the "Off Shore Release" from Off Shore Tackle. I think you can do that from the products page of WC too. Some good summaries of how to use different tools for trolling.

Good Luck,
Steve
