Hey all you walleye experts - anyone know how to tackle those big Dale Hollow eyes?
I have stumbled into them while bass fishing in the spring. But I would love to really target them this year. We are staying in Sulphur Creek over the 4th. And since the bass fishing is mainly at night we are going to concentrate on the fantastic walleye population. They are very good sized.
Thank all!

you might try www.fishin.com and check the TN board. Although doesn't seem to be very many people targeting walleyes or if they are, there pretty tight lipped about it from my experience.

Track down Tennesse Jed on the general discussion board and email him. He sounds like a person I would ask for advice. I don't know him, but I think it's a good starting point.

Walleye fisherman in the south are a pretty tight lipped bunch. Here in West Virginia there are several areas to catch large Walleye, Saugeye and Sauger, but not many people talk about it. Like most of this region, they are outnumbered 10 to 1 by the Bass fisherman and tend to keep to themselves. Good luck in getting info on Dale Hollow.
I've heard that smallie fishing dries up over the summer when the water gets warm. Wouldn't Walleye's be the same?

Actually the bass fishing is fantastic in the summer. It's just that you have to fish at night. Which is OK. But normally I'm playing cards or something like that at night.
Dale Hollow has some of the best summer bass fishing I've ever experienced. But since this is a walleye board - I'll spare you the details!

I go there almost every November for Smallmouth. Locals seem to pretty much say most of the walleye action is in mid spring, and a few in fall, kind of by accident. We only caught walleyes one year,my buddy got a 6 LB,was a very nice fish for are 1st one there. The locals werent impressed, said was kind of average when they catching them at all. Would love to see the Tournament guys go tackle Dale Hollow. Would be quite interesting, and I bet some tremendous weights!

There has been an article or 2 in Walleye Insider on southern eyes over the years that might be worth looking for.
This thread has a few links for info:

Do an advanced search with key words Dale Hollow, search all forums, subject only, all topics and you'll get 5 older threads (at least one is yours).
Good Luck,
