Wanting to take the best care of my diawia line counter reels I wondered if haveing them taken apart and cleaned and oil will be o.k. or can this cause troubles. I will be useing a good reel repair guy. Will takeing them apart throw them off?

On OKUMA...I just found out (the hard way)...moisture can ruin the spring on the button in the line counter box. The button won't pop back out, I guess. $8.95 to fix...so, that isn't too bad.

Fishthrills1:

You might consider doing your own maintenance after reviewing the following reference: http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/articles/T139.htm

I'd also recommend you review the rod and reel section of Bass Fishing at: http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/bassboard/rods_reels/index.html

Taking a Daiwa linecounter apart should not throw off their accuracy. There is a bevel gear that runs the counter. You pretty much have to take them apart to lube them. I also swapped the drags out on all of my 47LC's which smoothed them out a bit.
