I know everyone uses a small swivel when using jigging raps, but how about when jigging a spoon? I know some guys do and some don't. If so what length of leader do you generally use? Thought I'd get a little Walleye Central expertise on the subject.

I always add a swivel about 2 or 3 ft. above my swedish pimple or other spoons. Had good luck on rattlin snakie spoons last year.Been kind of slow this year.Have"t found anything that works all the time.

Are you talking ice-fishing or regular season? If its not the hard stuff, have never bothered with swivels while jigging w/ Hopkins. I use a baitcaster spooled with 12# flouro and have never had a problem with line twist fishing 10-25 FOW for 'eyes.

I ususally use a swivel with jigging spoons. My leader is ususally about a foot long. (Same as when I'm using jigging raps)

I use a snap swivel connected right to the jigs, cleos, spoons etc...Sometime the clicking noise it makes hitting the lure when shaking it for walleyes through the ice will get that trigger...Kind of gaudy looking but I think that's what it takes sometimes for those finicky ones...Give it a try, if you feel the clicking when your shaking it you're doing it right then pause for a few seconds and shake it again...It does work... (green and silver cleo tipped with a minnow head, one of my favorites!!!) Have Fun
