Possible 50 degree’s today and very high winds predicted in ND, MN, SD.
With the slick ice and warm weather anglers should quickly check on there permanent ice shacks.
Winds in excess of 70 mph are reported in western ND now. Headed east is the prediction, so anchor them shack or move them folks.
Several shacks melted through in ND this weekend arording to the NDG&F, so watch for open areas near fish houses caused by heat reflected off shacks.
Going to be a big blow by the sound of it!

A friend checked on a local lake here in sw minn testerday, got about 5' from shore and went thru, on foot. The ice is gray, like you see here in april. Can't be good anywhere around the tri state area.

Thanks Eddy I have a portable out on a nearby lake I should go fold it down to keep it from blowing away. I will check tonight after work.

It is a big wind. Reports of campers flipping on the interstate have been filtering in the past hour.
You folks on the seminar & show trail who may be in the region should be very careful with tow rigs. Any high profile vehicle will not have any fun in this stuff!
The jackrabbits are digging in folks.

The winds hit here in Pierre SD about an hour ago. Solid thirty mile per hour winds and gusts up to fifty. We have no snow and it looks like a dust bowl outside.

Yes sir my portable was 100 yds away from the place it started and flipped on it's side. The little bit of water on the ice sure made it slippery to get in the stiff winds. I tied it to a tree on shore because there is still a good 11" of clear ice on this small lake. Thanks again Eddy for the warning.

Your welcome Pitts.
Hay 100 yards aint too bad.
We found one over 2 miles away one late Febuary on Devils Lake after a big warm wind that hit in the night. Slick ice, high winds, and warm, just like yesterday.
At least we found what was left of it anyway. It was a 4' by 8' flip down portable and sorta dissinagrated as it hit the trees at warp 7. We seen several others also extracting there shacks from the timber that morning. We just loaded up the junk that was left and headed for the dump.
:D
Live and learn I guess?

With this warm weather all the bridges on Devils Lake are wide open. The bridge out by the casino had a bunch of houses about 100 yards due east of it. By the end of the day there was at least one big permanent floating and I would imagine there were probably more since there were only a couple of houses left in the spot where there were around a dozen the day before. Real fun stuff.
